The Official Website of Paul Squires
Renegade Filmmaker - Musician - Writer
Paul Squires is an independent film maker from the UK. Born in the leafy suburbs of Surrey in 1970 his passions from an early age were film, music and comedy.
As a youth his early musical leanings gained him notoriety as a DJ - his early scratch mix tapes combined all genres of music - electro, disco, pop and film soundtracks - all thrown together in a seamless mix of epic proportions. In the
late 1980's Paul appeared on BBC radio and performed a live scratch session -
and continued to make music for his own pleasure and worked as a freelance journalist.
'Butte Bound' was Pauls first film - released in 2005. The independent documentary followed him on a trip to meet and interview his childhood hero - legendary daredevil Evel Knievel. Described by one critic as 'Michael Moore meets Blair Witch on a Harley' the film contains a realism and charm lacking in many big budget productions.
The film, written and produced by Paul also contains many of his earlier musical offerings. Paul lives on the outskirts of Guildford, Surrey - where he has set up his studio and continues work on his latest 'magical documentary'- scheduled for release early in 2006.
Paul describes his skills to include mostly 'bad jokes and a sense of reality.'
Bizarrely, his one regret is that he never shared a beer with Oliver Reed. |
